A new ransomware variant, posing as LockBit, has been identified leveraging AWS S3 to steal data. This fake LockBit ransomware uses AWS services to execute its attacks, causing real damage. Additionally, GuidePoint Security reports that ransomware remains a leading cyber threat despite shakeups among Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) groups. Notably, RansomHub has overtaken LockBit as the most prolific ransomware group.
