Serenity Shield experienced a significant security breach when nearly 7 million SERSH tokens, valued at approximately $5.6 million, were stolen from one of its MetaMask wallets on February 27, 2024. The theft resulted in a dramatic price drop of the SERSH token by 99%. The stolen tokens were partially swapped for USDT, with the hackers holding around 580k USDT in one address and bridging 210k USDT to Ethereum. In a separate but related incident, the Seneca Protocol was exploited due to a critical approval bug on February 28, 2024, leading to at least $3 million in stolen user funds. This exploit caused a 65% drop in the value of its native SEN token. The Seneca USD exploit involved the theft of 1,900 ETH, worth approximately $6.5 million. However, the hacker later returned 1,537 ETH, worth around $5.3 million, to Seneca, and transferred 300 ETH to two new addresses.
