A recent study suggests a significant risk of malicious extensions being downloaded from the Google Chrome Web Store. Security experts have found millions of users running malware-infected extensions. Out of 346 million users who downloaded extensions that violate Google's policies, 280 million of these downloads contained malware. Despite these findings, Google maintains that it is proud of its security record. This discrepancy suggests that the risk of malicious extensions might be worse than Google is letting on. Users are advised to revise what they’ve installed.
