Recent warnings from cybersecurity firms and crypto organizations highlight a surge in scams targeting cryptocurrency users, particularly on platforms like YouTube. Kaspersky has reported that scammers are posting fake wallet seed phrases in comments under finance videos, luring users into a trap where they believe they can access a wallet with a substantial balance, only to be required to pay fees that benefit the scammers. In one instance, scammers bait users with a wallet supposedly containing $8,000 in USDT, demanding TRX for gas fees. Additionally, warnings have been issued regarding impersonation scams involving CoinMarketCap, which has clarified that it does not operate via phone calls. Other alerts include fake promotions for non-existent tokens like $MIRA and malicious ads directing users to counterfeit websites, such as those impersonating the Pudgy Penguins brand. As these scams proliferate, experts advise users to remain vigilant and to only follow official channels for updates.
