Telegram has introduced a verification feature for official accounts to combat scams on its platform. This update aims to make it more difficult for scammers to deceive users, particularly those involved in cryptocurrency. Reports indicate that scammers are increasingly targeting crypto users by enticing them to join fraudulent Telegram groups through influencer comments on social media. Once users join these groups, they are often prompted to execute malicious code that installs the Remcos Trojan, a tool that allows full remote control of their systems. Additionally, a new Android malware known as FireScam is posing as legitimate applications to steal sensitive user data, further complicating the security landscape for mobile users. Experts are warning users to remain vigilant against evolving scam tactics, particularly in the cryptocurrency space.
