Valve has removed the free-to-play game PirateFi from its Steam platform after it was discovered to contain infostealing malware known as Vidar. This malware is designed to trick users into installing it, allowing it to steal sensitive information, including cryptocurrency wallet details. The game, which had garnered approximately 1,500 downloads, was taken down on February 12, 2025, following the findings of security researchers who identified the threat posed by the malware.
