
Marco Belinelli, the Italian shooting guard who helped the San Antonio Spurs capture the 2014 NBA title, said he is retiring from professional basketball at the age of 39. Belinelli played 13 seasons in the NBA with nine franchises, including two stints in San Antonio. He averaged 9.7 points over 860 regular-season games and won the 2014 All-Star Three-Point Contest. Including his years with Virtus Bologna and other European clubs, Belinelli’s career spanned 23 professional seasons. His retirement ends the playing career of the first Italian to win an NBA championship.
