Swisscom has completed the acquisition of Vodafone Italia for €8 billion, marking a significant expansion into the Italian market. The deal, which received all necessary regulatory approvals, was finalized on December 31, 2024. Swisscom has now revised its earnings outlook downwards due to the acquisition. The integration process between Fastweb and Vodafone Italia has begun, with the new entity operating under the corporate brand Fastweb + Vodafone. This merger positions Swisscom as the second-largest telecom operator in Italy for broadband and the leader in FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) services. The transaction is part of Vodafone's broader strategy to restructure its European operations, following the sale of its Spanish operations for €5 billion and a major merger in the UK.
