Team Visma–Lease a Bike, whose Danish rider Jonas Vingegaard leads the 2025 Vuelta a España, reported that thieves broke into its mechanics’ truck outside the team hotel near Turin during the night of 24-25 August and stole between 18 and 20 racing bicycles valued at roughly €250,000–€270,000. The Dutch squad said its staff have enough spare equipment for Monday’s third stage and confirmed that Vingegaard’s own bikes were not among those missing. Italian police have opened an investigation, and team principal Richard Plugge said several of the stolen bikes were later found abandoned in nearby bushes. The robbery occurred hours after Vingegaard won the second stage to take the leader’s red jersey. No other teams lodged theft reports at the hotel, which also hosts Movistar and Lidl-Trek.
