Asian shares experienced a mixed performance in post-Christmas trading, with many markets remaining closed for the holiday. Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose by 1.4%, reflecting some upward momentum in the region. However, U.S. stock futures indicated a decline as investors returned from the holiday break. Dow futures fell by more than 100 points, and the S&P 500 and NASDAQ closed with minimal changes, finishing down 1.31 points and up 2.46 points, respectively. The Dow Jones unofficially closed up 49.79 points, or 0.11%, at 43,346.82. Overall, trading volumes were light as many investors remained on holiday, contributing to the mixed results across global markets.
