Lucasfilm has set 29 October 2025 for the debut of “Star Wars: Visions” Volume 3 on Disney+, marking the return of the animated anthology series that invites leading animation studios to reinterpret the franchise. The third installment shifts the spotlight back to Japanese creators after a globally focused second volume. Among the newly revealed shorts is “Black,” directed by veteran animator Shinya Ohira, whose past credits include “Akira,” “Spirited Away” and “One Piece.” The episode unfolds during the destruction of the Death Star and is described as a psychedelic exploration of light and dark within the haunted psyche of an Imperial stormtrooper facing defeat. Lucasfilm released a poster and brief teaser images during Anime NYC, promising additional details in the run-up to the late-October premiere.
