Tokyo-listed Metaplanet has issued ¥2 billion (approximately $13.4 million) in bonds to finance the purchase of additional Bitcoin. The company acquired 162 BTC, raising its total holdings to 3,050 BTC, which is valued at around $250 million. This strategic move follows Metaplanet's recent profitability after six years of losses and a stock price surge in 2024. The company's stock rose by 8.1% to 3,610 yen following the announcement. CEO Simon Gerovich expressed strong confidence in Bitcoin, advising friends to invest their entire net worth in the cryptocurrency. Metaplanet aims to increase its Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC by the end of the year and has plans to acquire a total of 21,000 BTC by 2026.
