A former employee of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has been dismissed for allegedly stealing approximately ¥2 billion ($13 million) from the safe deposit boxes of around 60 clients. The bank confirmed the employee's termination on November 14, following an internal investigation into the theft. In a separate incident, a report has emerged regarding a renovation contractor who charged a customer ¥600,000 for work that another contractor suggested could be completed for just ¥30,000. This case has been linked to a broader issue of fraudulent practices in the renovation industry, which is reportedly being exploited by organized crime groups, described as a 'non-catchable scam system.'
