Palantir Technologies said it has signed a multi-year expansion of its agreement with SOMPO Holdings, deepening a collaboration that already puts the U.S. company’s Foundry software in the hands of more than 8,000 SOMPO employees across Japan. The Japanese insurer will broaden use of Foundry to overhaul end-to-end claims processing and deploy artificial-intelligence agents that automatically evaluate risk and make underwriting recommendations. SOMPO expects the additional automation to improve its financial results by about $10 million a year. The deal marks the second enlargement of the partners’ relationship, which included a $50 million expansion in 2023, and underscores Palantir’s push to embed its data-integration and AI tools deeper into the insurance sector.
