Tokyo-listed energy and crypto services firm Remixpoint Inc. said it will pay Chief Executive Officer Taku Tashiro’s entire compensation in Bitcoin, purchasing the tokens on the market at prevailing prices and transferring them to a wallet designated by the executive. The company described the arrangement as the first time a publicly traded Japanese firm has converted a CEO’s full salary into cryptocurrency. Because the initial payment is made in yen before immediate conversion into Bitcoin, Remixpoint said the plan meets Japanese corporate and tax requirements. Management argues the move aligns the chief executive’s incentives with those of shareholders, noting that the company’s share price has tended to track Bitcoin’s performance. Remixpoint has been expanding its exposure to digital assets, announcing in June a goal of acquiring more than 1,000 BTC for treasury purposes. The policy underscores the growing, though still uncommon, use of cryptocurrencies in executive pay packages as companies seek to signal commitment to Web3 strategies and differentiate themselves in Japan’s competitive energy and fintech markets.
