A new sophisticated phishing scam exploiting Gmail vulnerabilities has emerged, prompting warnings from cybersecurity experts and law enforcement agencies. The scam involves the use of a fake Google AI Reservations callback number and a counterfeit support email that successfully passes Gmail's DKIM authentication, making it appear legitimate. Authorities, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and mobile phone companies, are collaborating to prevent such special fraud cases. Additionally, a novel scam tactic impersonates police officers to demand indecent acts, further highlighting the evolving nature of these fraudulent schemes. Users are advised to remain vigilant and cautious to protect their personal data.
