The statue of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a prominent 16th-century warlord, located at the entrance of the Endoji shopping arcade in Nishi Ward, Nagoya, was found with its head broken off. This act of vandalism follows previous incidents in the same area where statues of other historical figures, including Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, were also damaged. The left arm of the Oda Nobunaga statue was torn off, and the Tokugawa Ieyasu statue was toppled in earlier attacks. The statue of Hideyoshi was donated to the shopping arcade, and the donor expressed frustration over the repeated damages, describing the situation as unsettling. Representatives of the shopping arcade association described the Hideyoshi statue as a symbolic presence for the community and expressed disappointment over the vandalism. Authorities are considering repairs and the filing of a damage report in response to the incident.
