On April 28, 2025, the Tokyo Stock Exchange opened higher by 262 yen as of 9:15 a.m. The Japanese yen fluctuated against the U.S. dollar throughout the day, trading in the mid-143 yen range during the morning and early afternoon sessions. By late afternoon and into the New York trading session, the yen strengthened, pushing the USD/JPY exchange rate down to a session low of approximately 142.05. The U.S. dollar fell more than 1% against the yen, testing the 200-hour moving average before settling near 142 yen in the late New York session.
