A Kenyan court has given the Director of Public Prosecutions 14 days to complete a forensic examination of electronic devices seized from activist Boniface Mwangi. The items, taken in July, are being reviewed for possible evidence in an unspecified investigation. The court ruled that if prosecutors fail to submit their forensic report within the two-week window, the phones and other gadgets must be returned to Mwangi. Defence lawyers argued that the prolonged detention of the devices infringes on their client’s rights and hampers his work as a journalist and activist.
