President Ruto Offers Harambee Stars Two-Bedroom Houses with Ksh.1M Player Payment, Government Tops Up Ksh.1M, Urges AFCON 2027 Prep

Kenyan President William Ruto has pledged to support the Harambee Stars football team by facilitating the purchase of two-bedroom affordable housing units for the players who participated in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). Despite the team exiting at the quarter-final stage, each player will be able to acquire a government-subsidized house valued at approximately Ksh. 2 million, with the players paying Ksh. 1 million and the government covering the remaining half. Ruto emphasized that the houses are not to be exchanged for money. Additionally, the president met with the Harambee Stars squad and coaching staff to encourage preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), urging the Football Kenya Federation and coaches to build a competitive team aimed at delivering a memorable tournament performance.
