Everland theme park in Yongin celebrated the second birthday of giant panda twins Rui Bao and Hui Bao on 7 July. Born on the same day in 2023 to pandas Ai Bao and Le Bao, they are the first giant panda twins ever born in South Korea. Keepers marked the occasion with a bamboo-shaped cake, ice blocks and new enrichment toys, while about 40 invited visitors sang a birthday song. The sisters now weigh close to 70 kilograms apiece, a roughly 440-fold increase from their combined birth weights of 180 grams and 140 grams. According to park officials, the twins will begin living apart from their mother this summer, in line with the species’ natural independence at roughly two years of age. Everland plans to move them to a separate enclosure, dubbed “Panda Second House,” in September.
