South Korean prosecutors have recently taken significant legal actions against several former lawmakers. On December 18, 2024, former Congressman Park Wan-joo was sentenced to one year in prison for sexual harassment of his aides, resulting in immediate incarceration. In a separate case, prosecutors sought a six-month prison sentence for former Congressman Kim Nam-kuk for failing to report his cryptocurrency holdings, which included assets worth approximately 9.9 billion won (about $6.8 million) and 990 million won (around $680,000) from 2021 and 2022. Additionally, the prosecution has filed for an arrest warrant for Jeon Seong-bae, also known as 'Geonjinbeopsa,' on charges of violating political funding laws.
