South Korean singer Joy, a member of SM Entertainment’s girl group Red Velvet, launched her first solo mini album, “From JOY, with LOVE,” at 6 p.m. KST on 18 August. The release is led by the single “Love Splash,” a pop-dance track built around rhythmic bass, piano lines and bell tones, accompanied by a summer-themed music video that premiered simultaneously. The project marks Joy’s return to solo activities following her 2021 remake EP “Hello” and is her first collection of original material. The six-track record showcases the vocalist’s brighter pop sensibilities apart from Red Velvet’s experimental style, reinforcing SM Entertainment’s strategy of highlighting individual group members through solo projects.
