InSight Crime has conducted an extensive investigation into the Venezuelan transnational criminal gang Tren de Aragua, highlighting its rapid expansion across Latin America and its evolving structure, where the brand has become more influential than the underlying organization. A virtual panel hosted by InSight Crime on August 20 examined the facts and misconceptions surrounding the gang. Concurrently, law enforcement efforts targeting criminal networks linked to Tren de Aragua have intensified. Spanish authorities dismantled a criminal organization in Tenerife, Spain, involved in trafficking Venezuelan women for sexual exploitation, rescuing two victims. Additionally, courts in Concepción, Chile, are set to deliver verdicts on groups connected to Tren de Aragua involved in human trafficking. Venezuelan military forces also dismantled an illegal mining camp in a border region. In Trinidad and Tobago, 15 Venezuelan migrants were detained during two separate operations. InSight Crime has launched a weekly video series, "On the Radar," providing expert analysis on organized crime developments in Latin America, including criminal alliances, drug trafficking routes, and policy decisions.
