Apple Inc. has been accused by the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) of violating employees' rights nationwide to organize and advocate for better working conditions. The NLRB issued a complaint alleging that Apple maintained a series of unlawful workplace rules, including restrictive noncompete and confidentiality agreements that illegally limit employees' speech and interfere with, restrain, and coerce employees under federal labor law. The complaint stems from charges filed by a former senior engineering manager. The NLRB has previously brought several union-busting cases against Apple at individual locations but now alleges company-wide violations. The agency has requested that Apple remove the restrictive policies and inform its employees of their rights. If Apple does not comply, the case will proceed before an administrative judge in early 2025.
