Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has initiated legal action against eight accounts accused of manipulating the trading of the VOXEL token, resulting in illicit profits exceeding $20 million during a trading surge on April 20. Bitget alleges that the accounts are part of a coordinated "wool-pulling interest group" that exploited a system vulnerability, triggering abnormal trading volumes and price swings in the VOXEL/USDT perpetual futures market. The price of VOXEL, the native token of the Polygon-based game Voxie Tactics, surged by more than 560% within 48 hours, rising from $0.021 to $0.139, before falling to $0.074. The daily trading volume for VOXEL/USDT contracts reached nearly $13 billion, with some traders reportedly using investments of less than $100 to generate large profits. Bitget temporarily froze the affected accounts and reversed abnormal transactions. The company has stated that all recovered funds will be fully distributed to impacted platform users via airdrops. Bitget's representative, Jiayin Xie, confirmed that eight legal letters have been sent to the accused accounts. Bitget has pledged to release a comprehensive report on the incident and has emphasized that users who legitimately traded VOXEL during the affected period and withdrew their funds will not be penalized.
