Cisco Systems has been ordered by a Texas federal jury to pay $65.7 million to Paltalk, a video group-chat application maker, for infringing a patent related to audio conferencing. The jury found that Cisco's WebEx platform violated Paltalk's patent rights concerning audio-server technology for teleconferencing. Cisco has requested U.S. District Judge Alan D. Albright to declare a mistrial, arguing that the judge used a different claim construction during the trial than what was initially suggested.
