Joseph Goffman, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) air office, has been found to have violated federal ethics rules by failing to disclose his substantial stock ownership in a company regulated by the agency. This finding was reported by the EPA Office of Inspector General. Goffman failed to meet numerous ethical obligations under the federal financial conflicts-of-interest prohibition. Additionally, emails have surfaced showing that Goffman took directives from a wealthy chemical lobbyist, raising further ethical concerns about his conduct.
