The suit, lodged in San Francisco Superior Court, alleges defamation, discrimination, and retaliation among other complaints. In response, a lawyer representing the aquarium and several environmental organizations has dismissed the lawsuit as 'meritless.' In a separate case, the Massachusetts Attorney General's office has imposed $244,000 in fines on Shake Shack for child labor violations. Additionally, UT Southwestern will pay $900,000 to settle allegations of hiring discrimination, while Waste Industries has agreed to a $3.1 million settlement over claims of sex bias in hiring practices. Furthermore, METI, led by CEO Renard Johnson, was ordered to pay over $270,000 to a former employee in a discrimination suit. Lastly, four Chicken Palace restaurants have been mandated to pay $442,000 in back pay and overtime to 29 workers.
