
Today, Manhattan District Attorney Bragg announced the guilty plea of Juan Velez, a former Citibank personal banker, for stealing $166,000 from a 79-year-old client with dementia. Velez is expected to receive a six-month jail sentence. In another case, former corporate lawyer Eric Lenzen, who worked at U.S. law firms Husch and Dykema, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for failing to pay $3.9 million in federal income taxes and penalties between 2016 and 2020. Lenzen's lavish spending included private planes, jewelry, and golf memberships. Furthermore, senior promoter Juan Tacuri was sentenced to 240 months in prison and ordered to forfeit $3.6 million and a Florida home for his role in the Forcount cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme.
