The chief legal officer of OKX, Mauricio Beugelmans, has departed from the cryptocurrency exchange approximately one month after the firm settled a $500 million case with the U.S. Department of Justice. The settlement was reached in late March 2025, marking a notable leadership change at the company. Following Beugelmans' exit, OKX has appointed Linda Lacewell as the new Chief Legal Officer. Lacewell, who joined the OKX board in 2024, previously served as the Superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), where she played a key role in modernizing the state's cryptocurrency regulations. The transition in leadership comes at a critical time for OKX, as it seeks to strengthen its regulatory position in the market.
