ParkMobile, an Atlanta-based parking app, has agreed to a $32.8 million settlement following a March 2021 data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 21 million users. The breach allegedly compromised phone numbers, email addresses, license plate numbers, and hashed passwords. The settlement allocates $9 million for cash payments to affected users, capped at $25 per individual, and $21 million for in-app credits. Non-claimants will automatically receive a $1 credit in the app, while promotional codes of up to $15 are available for residents in the Washington area. An additional $2.5 million will be used to enhance the app's security measures. ParkMobile denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to avoid prolonged litigation. The case was filed in Georgia federal court by Tyler Baker and others. Eligible users who received notifications about the breach were required to file claims by March 5, 2025. A final court hearing to approve the settlement is scheduled for March 13, 2025, with payments expected to be distributed after that date.
