Samsung Electronics has been ordered by a federal jury in Marshall, Texas, to pay $118 million in damages to Netlist, a computer memory company, for infringing on Netlist's patents related to technology for improving data processing in high-performance memory products. This ruling comes amidst a series of patent infringement lawsuits against Samsung, including a preliminary ruling by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) that China's BOE infringed on three Samsung Display patents for OLED technology, and four lawsuits filed in the Eastern District of Texas related to Samsung's Galaxy products. Additionally, Netlist won $445 million from chipmaker Micron in May in a separate lawsuit over some of the same patents.
