Former Texas Southern University’s law school dean of admissions given 8-year prison sentence https://t.co/GaxwzSKTkw
A Texas doctor has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for orchestrating a $118 million fraud scheme by falsely diagnosing healthy patients with rheumatic conditions and administering unnecessary and harmful treatments, including chemotherapy, to fund a lavish lifestyle. The scheme spanned from 2000 to 2018 and involved fraudulent medical claims submitted to insurance. The doctor used the illicit gains to purchase multiple properties in the U.S. and Mexico, travel by private jet, and own luxury cars such as a Maserati. Although convicted in 2020, the sentencing was delayed until 2025. The case has drawn attention due to the physical harm caused to patients, some as young as 13 years old, and the scale of the financial fraud.
