The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has disclosed that an additional 33,529 recipients of state benefits were affected by a data breach, bringing the total number of impacted individuals to approximately 94,000. The breach exposed protected health information, personal identifying details, and other sensitive personal data. The agency began notifying those affected in late April and early May 2025. Meanwhile, in a separate matter, Raytheon Companies and Nightwing Group have agreed to pay $8.4 million to resolve allegations under the False Claims Act related to non-compliance with cybersecurity requirements in Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. This settlement follows a whistleblower lawsuit accusing the companies of knowingly failing to meet cybersecurity standards. Additionally, PIH Health will pay $600,000 to the government for privacy violations stemming from a 2019 phishing attack.
