Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has filed a complaint with the Lokpal against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. The complaint alleges quid pro quo arrangements that potentially threaten national interests. SEBI regulates a market capital of $6 trillion, with investments from nearly 9.5 crore Indians and 10,000 foreign funds. The SEBI Chairperson has denied any involvement with Agora Advisory, Agora Partners, Mahindra Group, Pidilite, Dr. Reddy’s, or ICICI Bank. Additionally, the SEBI Chief stated that all necessary disclosures related to rental income have been made and that the organizations employed the services of her husband based purely on his expertise. The SEBI Chairperson also claimed that their I-T returns were obtained fraudulently and illegally, which constitutes a breach of privacy and violation of their rights.
