USAA Settles for $64M After Data Breach; Patelco and Others Affected

USAA has reached a $64 million settlement nearly two months after a data breach in April that affected the personal information of 32,276 members. The breach has led to a lawsuit filed by a Texas man against USAA. In a separate incident, a data breach at Wright, Moore, DeHart, Dupuis, and Hutchinson (WMDDH), a Louisiana accounting firm, affected 127,000 customers. This breach, which occurred in July 2023, took the 100-employee company and its investigators about 10 months to identify the compromised information. Additionally, Patelco Credit Union experienced a data breach impacting over 1 million people.
