Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM), an armed group active in the Sahel region, has intensified its operations across Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. On August 19, JNIM claimed to have seized the Farabougou base in Mali, releasing a video on August 22 showing their presence there for three days and footage of four captured Malian soldiers. The group has released 17 statements and six photos documenting 23 attacks targeting the Malian Army, Russian private military company Africa Corps, Burkinabe Army, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) militia, and Niger Army. Recent attacks include an explosive device targeting military vehicles between Sikasso and Heremakono in Mali. In Burkina Faso, JNIM reported attacks near Fada N’Gourma resulting in the deaths of four soldiers and the seizure of drones, a vehicle, weapons, and other equipment. Additionally, a JNIM assault in Bitou killed four VDP members and captured another, with footage released showing the captive near a man-made trench. These actions demonstrate JNIM's ongoing campaign against regional military and paramilitary forces.
