Multiple suspicious transactions involving the FEG token have been detected across Ethereum (ETH), Binance Smart Chain (BSC), and Base networks, leading to a total loss exceeding $1 million. The malicious activity began with the deployment of a harmful contract approximately 19 hours prior to the first alert. The losses include 712 BNB on BSC and 73 ETH on Base. CertiK has confirmed that many FEG tokens were withdrawn, sold for around $1 million, and subsequently deposited into other accounts. The investigation by FEGrox is ongoing, with preliminary findings indicating that the root cause of the hack stems from a composability issue linked to the integration with the Wormhole bridge for cross-chain transactions. CertiK's analysis revealed logic errors in the relayer contract’s processing of cross-chain messages, which was deployed by an address associated with the FEG team, showing no connection to the Wormhole team. This incident marks the third hack affecting FEG token holders, resulting in a 99% decline in token value.
We detected that the FEG bridge was exploited on 12/29/24. Analysis shows logic errors in the relayer contract’s cross-chain message processing. Deployed by an address funded by the FEG team, it shows no connection to the Wormhole team. Read more👇 https://t.co/dhncLFCrnJ
