Solana has initiated the community voting process for the SIMD-0326 proposal, also known as the Alpenglow upgrade. This proposal aims to significantly improve the blockchain's consensus protocol by reducing block finality time from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. The voting period spans from Epoch 840 to 842, with each Epoch lasting approximately two days. As of the start of voting, voter turnout stands at around 9.87%, and the proposal requires a two-thirds majority to pass. The Alpenglow upgrade also seeks to enhance validator resilience. Following the announcement of the voting phase, Solana's native token, $SOL, has shown strong performance, reaching a six-month high and demonstrating the best performance among the top 10 crypto assets over the past week.
