Recent research has raised concerns about the effectiveness of ChatGPT as a study assistant. A study by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania found that Turkish high school students who used ChatGPT for practice math problems performed worse on subsequent math tests compared to those who did not use the AI tool. The investigation, involving nearly 1,000 high school students, compared math progress and suggests that any short-term gains from using ChatGPT as a tutor do not persist over time.
