Elon Musk briefly changed his profile name on the social media platform X to 'Kekius Maximus' and updated his avatar to an image of Pepe the Frog in Roman gladiator attire, holding a joystick. This move triggered a surge in the value of a cryptocurrency memecoin named Kekius Maximus, which reportedly increased by over 6,000% in seven days, with one trader turning a $66 investment into $3 million within 18 days. Musk also referenced the video game Path of Exile in a post during this period. However, the coin's value plummeted by over 60% shortly after Musk reverted his name and profile picture. The name 'Kekius Maximus' combines references to internet meme culture, the movie Gladiator, and the term 'kek,' which has associations with gaming and controversial far-right symbolism. Musk has not provided an explanation for the name change, but his actions continue to demonstrate his influence over cryptocurrency markets.
