CJNG Leader Abigael González Valencia, Known as El Cuini, Faces Three U.S. Charges; Second Hearing Set for October
Abigael González Valencia, known as "El Cuini," a key leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and brother-in-law of its leader Nemesio Oseguera, alias "El Mencho," has been formally charged with three crimes in the United States. He appeared in a federal court in the District of Columbia for his initial hearing overseen by Judge Beryl Howell, with a second hearing scheduled for late October. González Valencia was presented in his prison uniform shortly after being expelled from Mexico. His arrest follows the detention of another CJNG relative, known as "El Chalamán," by Mexican federal forces in Colima. Both arrests highlight ongoing coordinated efforts by Mexican and U.S. authorities to target the CJNG and its affiliated groups, including "Los Cuinis," which González Valencia leads and which is connected to drug trafficking and organized crime charges in the U.S.
