Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu, winner of four Academy Awards, has been elected to El Colegio Nacional, Mexico’s elite academy for the arts and sciences. The institution announced the decision on 15 July, making him the first filmmaker to join its ranks since the body was founded in 1943.
