The Asociación de Bancos de México (ABM) has stated that the intervention by the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) in Intercam and CIBanco, following allegations of money laundering in the United States, does not pose a risk to the stability of the Mexican financial system. Both banks have committed to cooperating fully with regulatory authorities in Mexico and the U.S., including the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), to address concerns related to the accusations. CIBanco emphasized that client funds remain protected throughout the process. The Asociación Mexicana de Instituciones Bursátiles (AMIB) also confirmed that the assets of clients invested or saved with CIBanco, Intercam, and Vector Casa de Bolsa are secure and not at risk. Despite these reassurances, a credit rating agency has downgraded the ratings of both Intercam and CIBanco following the intervention. The ABM characterized the intervention as a temporary managerial measure and reiterated that it does not represent a systemic risk to Mexico's financial sector.
