The Mexican government, under President Claudia Sheinbaum, announced an $800 million investment to construct two solar thermal power plants in Baja California Sur. The plants, each with a capacity of 50 megawatts and featuring thermal energy storage, represent the first of their kind in Mexico and mark a step forward in the country's renewable energy transition. Energy Secretary Luz Elena González Escobar presented the project during the government's morning briefing, highlighting its significance for improving electricity service and advancing clean energy. In parallel, Mexico and Brazil reinforced their strategic partnership by signing two bilateral cooperation agreements focused on biocombustibles and economic competitiveness. Despite these agreements, Mexico's Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard clarified that Mexico is not pursuing a free trade deal with Brazil. Additionally, the governor of Tlaxcala announced a private investment of $540 million for the Polo de Bienestar project, expected to create 5,000 jobs and attract national and international companies.
