The Pokémon Company has unveiled Mega Hawlucha as the latest Mega Evolution for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the action-RPG scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on 16 October. The Fighting- and Flying-type Pokémon, first introduced in 2013’s Pokémon X and Y, gains increased bulk and striking new plumage in its powered-up form, allowing it to withstand multiple hits before counter-attacking with its signature move, Flying Press. To promote the reveal, the company is partnering with Mexico’s Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre for a showcase at Arena México on 25 September. The event will feature four exhibition matches, including an appearance by star wrestler Místico, and will be streamed live on official Pokémon and CMLL channels. Mega Hawlucha follows earlier Legends: Z-A announcements of Mega Dragonite and Mega Victreebel and comes as Game Freak prepares to introduce real-time battles and the four-player Z-A Battle Club mode in the Kalos-set title. Players buying the Switch version will be able to upgrade to the higher-resolution Switch 2 edition via a paid add-on.
