A scam involving fraudulent toll collection messages has targeted recipients using legitimate state email accounts in Indiana. The Indiana Office of Technology confirmed that these scam emails, which appeared to originate from official state agencies including Indiana's Emergency Operations Center, were sent through GovDelivery, a government email alert system used by federal and state departments. Recipients were urged not to click on any links in these messages. The FBI has also warned about phishing scams involving text messages that mimic government websites. Additionally, the FBI reported scammers impersonating Department of Homeland Security agents contacting foreign students from countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan, threatening immigration-related prosecution or deportation unless payments are made.
