Palestinian journalist Islam Al-Koumi was killed along with his son in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. His death raises the number of Palestinian journalists killed since October 2023 to 239, according to local authorities. The airstrike also resulted in the deaths of at least three people and caused several injuries. The violence in Gaza has continued with multiple Israeli attacks reported over recent days. On August 22, at least 37 Palestinians were killed in various locations across the Gaza Strip. On August 23, medical sources reported that 24 Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks since dawn, including children in a strike on tents sheltering displaced civilians in northern Asda’ in Khan Younis. Additional casualties include one Palestinian killed by a drone strike west of Deir al-Balah and 10 Palestinians killed after Israeli forces opened fire on aid workers in the Al-Waha area northwest of Gaza City. The ongoing bombardments have resulted in widespread fatalities and injuries across Gaza.
