The Toronto Blue Jays seized early control of their series opener in Chicago on Monday, building a 5–1 advantage over the White Sox behind a burst of power in the middle innings. Rookie outfielder Joey Loperfido launched his first major-league home run and fellow call-up Nathan Lukes followed with his fifth of the season on the very next pitch in the fifth inning, turning a 1–1 tie into a 3–1 lead. One frame later, infielder Addison Barger added a two-run blast to provide additional cushion. The game remains in progress at Guaranteed Rate Field.
#Bisons alumni night continues for #Bluejays in Chicago. Barger with a 2-run HR and a 5-1 lead in the 6th after Loperfido and Lukes went back to back in the 5th.
